Da Zhang Wei, the lead singer of The Flowers, has been something of a celebrity since his early childhood. Born and raised in Beijing, the now twenty-something is a bone fide celebrity with music about as infectious and catchy as you can... steal? In 2006 The Flowers became embroiled in controversy when the melodies to roughly half of their music was found to have been blatantly lifted from other artists. The bands initial reaction was obstinate denial. The reaction from their label EMI? A quick and quiet settling of accounts.
