Hi,
I'm new here, I was just wondering if there is any way to download all the free lessons without iTunes,
Thanks
Alex.
@Alex Yep, you can just click on the headphones icon of any lesson, and that will allow you to download the mp3 file. I don't know of a way to download them all at once, though.
I find that I need the PDF files to figure out what all the new words are. To be able to download the PDF file, you have to pay for an account, but for ~$50/year, I think it's a pretty good deal.
Yeah, I worked out I could get them individually, seemed like a pretty long process though.
I'm thinking I might go for the $50 subscription, but I really can't be bothered with iTunes.
EDIT: so I actually can't get them individually, only listen to them online. I guess I'm gonna have to settle for this until I decide to pay for them.
@agerhbour I can't run iTunes either, as I'm on Linux. Not that I'd want to.
mmm, I just don't want anything to do with iTunes. So I guess noone else knows of any other way to get them all at once?
It took me about an hour to download all of the lessons for intermediate and elementary after I got my subscription. I did them one by one. It's well worth avoiding iTunes. It would be nice if there was just an archive of the files all available or zip packages though :).
the closest thing I got was using a download manager to download all the mp3 files from this pagehttp://popupchinese.com/feeds/custom/but it has nowhere near all of the lessons.
Glad to hear that you were able to download some mp3 files. I know it's possible to at least do it one-by-one without an account, because I downloaded several before signing up for the $50 subscription.
@yeroc99 and @agerhbour,
Free users still have a personal RSS feed that can be used to automatically download files. The URL of this feed depends on one's username, so for agerhbour your address would be:
http://popupchinese.com/feeds/custom/agerhbour
The free feed is limited to fifteen lessons at a time, but is customized with the lessons people have in their accounts. It is possible to download fifteen lessons, delete them from your queue and have the next fifteen show up automatically. Not quite as convenient as actually subscribing and downloading everything at once, but not bad.
We're open to better ways of accomplishing this. Right now emphasizing the public rather than personal feeds in the signup process has the benefit of signalling to Apple that people are listening to our main feed and encouraging them to give us greater visibility in the podcast directory. Perhaps the solution is to include information in the main feed about how to get the rest of the materials.
Best,

Wow, thanks for the help David.
The few lessons that I've listened to I have really enjoyed, so even though at the moment I havn't bought a subscription (really considering it), I wish there was some way to show that I was listening to your main feed. Except, I've avoided iTunes for this long, I don't really want to get involved with it just for this.
But, how does one delete lessons from the queue?
On the front page where you can see the introduction to your various lesson you'll also notice a small "close" box on the upper-right. Clicking that will remove the lesson from your account. The order of lessons on the front page should be identical to the order of lessons in your feed, so as you work through the one you should be able to work through the other.
