Today we're pleased to present another HSK listening test for beginner students preparing to take the HSK test. As unlike more advanced levels, at Level 1 on the New HSK exam, you should be allowed to listen to each passage twice during the course of the exam. So take a listen and see how you do. And if you have any questions contact us anytime at service@popupchinese.com.

Out of interest, how do the Popup Chinese HSK test materials compare to the 'real' thing? The demo/past exams from what seems to be an official source are much easier than those found on Popup Chinese. For example, I'm doing the HSK level 2, and the test papers can be found here: http://www.chinaeducenter.com/en/hsk/hsklevel2.php . I'm sure you'll agree that they are easier.

Thanks for the help/info.

@bionara,

Good question! Actually some of the Popup questions are a little bit more difficult than in the real exams, but most of them are not. The reason is that people cannot see the real HSK exams online until they really take them. But some of our teachers may work for the real HSK once a year, and we collect the thoughts of students who have taken HSK exams. We think it's better to make some of the questions a bit difficult, than let our students fail in the real exam.

Yep, that makes sense. In that case, thanks for toughening us up! I suppose that it's also quite a bit easier when you have the question sheet (as in the mock) as it has a lot of contextual info, especially the image-heavy questions. Anyway, thanks for all the great lessons and resources available on here. I will credit my $99 subscription to any future success!
