Today we are pleased to introduce a new kind of HSK exercise which makes its debut on the new HSK exam at level three. Although the exam officially refers to these questions as writing exercises, you do not yet need to actually be able to write Chinese characters. The challenge is simply to rearrange a scrambled sentence into unscrambled form. To do this using our online test system, simply click-and-drag the sentence fragments into the correct order.Students considering taking the new HSK should be aware of another major difference between level three and its preceding levels. Starting at this level, students are required to answer all questions using Chinese characters only. At previous levels pinyin is generally provided. Good luck!

Cool animation - there seems to be an extra pipe on question 15.

I like the test format, kind of fun. Unfortunately, for each question I am able to drag only the first character(s). After which I am unable to continue re-arranging to form a correct answer. I instead can only highlight the balance of the sentence fragments. No worries, though, I checked my answers against an off line translator.

@rizzo,
What OS/browser are you using? If we can replicate it, we can try to fix it.

哎哟! Moving the characters into their proper order unfortunately does not work on the iPad. 怎么办啊?

Using IE version 7.0.5730.13 on MS Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 sevice pack 3
To clarify, the first question attempted, regardless of question number, works as intended. Subsequent questions allow only a single word to be re-arranged after which no other click+drag is possible
thanks

@rizzo,
Thanks for the details on the browser and OS. We managed to duplicate the problem using IE on this end and have fixed it. Expecting it will work for you too, but let me know if you still have problems.

@huiyilin,
The mouseover stuff works a bit differently on iPhone (no iPad yet), so we may have to make some changes and put out a dedicated app if the platform browser doesn't support drag-and-drop. Will let you know when we have something for you. :)

They will be more perfect if having answers for the writing part.
