Congratulations on finding the world's best community for learning Chinese. If you're just getting started, check out our collection of Chinese podcasts first. These are broken down by difficulty and can be covered in any order: important words and concepts will repeat. Once you understand the basics move on to our collection of Chinese videos, or test yourself with our collection of sample hsk tests. More advanced students are encouraged to check out our archive of manually annotated Chinese short stories.

How you should use the site? As you go through our archives, we recommend you check out our popup transcripts while listening to or watching our various shows. Mouseover any words you don't recognize and click on them to add them instantly to your private vocabulary list. Our server will test you on these words over time as you continue to use the site. If you want to trigger the review manually, you can click on the right-hand sidebar at the top of this page as well.

Other things you should know? Popup Chinese is different from most other learning communities: our mission is to promote Chinese language education to higher-level students who need assistance reaching genuine fluency. If you like what we are doing, please help us out by recommending Popup Chinese to others. And if you enjoy our lessons and shows, please consider upgrading to a premium account and supporting us financially as well. Subscribers get access to a few neat features that free accounts do not, including the ability to download our lessons to your mp3 player and study on the go.

Hi BunniesForTea,

Sure, welcome to the site!

You can start with listening to our podcasts : http://www.popupchinese.com/lessons. Click on the level you are, and you'll be able to view all of our lessons on that level. You can listen to them one by one. If you are a premium subscriber, you will be able to read the transcript and vocab list of each lesson while listening. You can review what you learned after listening to the podcasts for a while on this page: http://www.popupchinese.com/progress. You can take the review tests there. We also have vocab flashcard, dictionary, hsk test, hanzi writingpad and other feature to help you when you study.

Feel free to let me know anytime if you have anymore questions.

Nimen hao, I am excited to give your site a try. I speak very little Mandarin after more than a year with Rosetta. Your content sounds relevant, hip, and I do not feel like you are asking me to remember junk I will not use.
