Another common HSK question involves listening to a dialogue between two people. As before, you must select the most appropriate answer given the question asked about the dialogue.

Small issue with the UI here: The result page was not readable [Internet Explorer] (the sad "11/15" was cut off at about 20% of the top).

Actually this one was mean: "今天是星期几?"

I would have problems doing that in German let alone Chinese. Definately need an upgrade for my short term memory. Just don't know where to insert that SD-card into my brain.

Yup. The test materials are being written by colleagues at IUP and BLCU. So this actually *does* reflect on the kind of question they'll throw at you at the upper levels.

The advanced listening comprehension can be even more cruel. We haven't put any of these up yet, but they are coming.... (insert cruel laugh)

On the other hand, giving the Chinese focus on standardized testing with the 高考 and then TEM series, it's not surprising their own language tests include some analytic questions as well.

Great lesson, can't wait for the advanced suffering. IE formatting is OK now.

Am I missing something in question 7, The test said the correct answer was 两斤,however by my reckoning it should be 四斤:

女:我要两斤苹果

男:两斤苹果五块钱

女:真便宜,那我再来两斤

男:一共十块钱

两斤 plus another 两斤 should surely be 四斤?

Plus if 两斤 costs 五块钱, then if the total comes to 十块钱 then she should have bought 四斤?

Yes. The correct answer is most certainly #4. Corrected with thanks.

Haha. That raises my score to 12/15. And I thought I missed something here.

:)

By the way: Is the complete audio-file close to the real HSK setting regarding the time intervals between the different sentences? The task density increases the stress factor considerably...

@henning,

That's a good score. The speed is very close, although there's a bit less space between questions.

You are suppose to complete 50 questions in about 35 minutes for the HSK. There are three parts in the listening section, and today's quiz belongs to the second part. The third part has five long listening essays, so takes more time. So it's close.

@weijin,

hi weijin - the first stroke in the character 八 goes downwards and to the left and is called a 撇. :)

@brshill,
