Our HSK test for today is still at the beginner level, but is at the upper end of the difficulty spectrum. As with other reading comprehension questions, the challenge is quite simple: pick the answer from the options given which best match the meaning of the word selected from the original sentence.

9/15 - a good test, but it was very tricky for me. I'm guessing many of the questions (很不错) are testing spoken instead of written Chinese, since I am definitely weaker there.

@davidjglynn - stick in there. the beginner HSK corresponds to somewhere between Elementary and Intermediate for our podcasts.

And these questions are definitely at the upper end of that, so someone who can do quite well on them should really be aiming for the Intermediate HSK.

@davidjglynn,

In the HSK tests, beginner and intermediate are using one same test. The level you reach is beginner or intermediate depends on the score you get, and what you have taken is actually the same test. That's why people may think our HSK Beginner is not the beginner Chinese level. It is the beginner HSK level.

Keep working on the tests, and you will get used to them and get better and better.
