this is a great tool, but will there ever be a version for google chrome?
I hope so. We definitely want to expand to other browsers and Chrome would be the obvious first pick. That said, we're a small team so this isn't at the top of our agenda right now. That's updating our mobile apps and hooking them into people's backend vocabulary and test lists.
If anyone is interested in doing independent software development to speed this sort of thing up, incidentally, we are happy to provide the data, materials and any guidance.
I just found a Chrome extension that translates between different languages. See what you think:

Or simply go to the Chrome Extensions site and search for "Bubble Translate."
Basically, it can translate highlighted text or the whole page. There's also a real-time translator that immediately translates what you type. Additionally, it detects the web page's language, and you can set up automatic translation for specific sites if you want. The translation is based on Google Translate ( http://translate.google.com/ ) so you can see for yourself how accurate that is. As far as what it's trying to do, it doesn't seem too bad.
It's not the same idea as the Firefox plugin you're talking about, though. I wouldn't mind helping to develop the Chrome version.

Not a software whiz I'm afraid, but for anyone having trouble downloading this cheeky little bit of kit, I found it very simple to go to the Firefox site, click add ons and type in Popup Chinese. Very straight forward. Now I've got it, it's great, thanks guys!
