At the train station in Linyi, the nearest city to Chen’s village, I was met by Chen Guangfu’s friend Lu Qiumei, 34, a talkative woman who is a “chaiqianhu” (people whose houses have been demolished by the government). We set off in a van with two chaiqianhu friends. The above is from the NYTimes. I know the "chai" character but what would the last two characters be?
@deanbarr,Here you go: 拆迁户, 拆 means to tear down, 迁 means to remove and 户 means family.--Echoecho@popupchinese.com
Thank you, Echo. Can you give the romanization for the second character? Is it a simplified character or just one of many thousands I don't know or forgot?
Sure, it's qiān. It's a simplified character, the traditional one should be 遷.--Echoecho@popupchinese.com
