Hey, I want to improve my reading so I want to download the transcripts for all the lessons I have already studied in Chinese only. Is there away to do this in bulk as it is time consuming doing it one by one.
@seamus5,First, customize your account so that your transcripts contain only the material you want. Do this on your display preferences page (link below). It sounds like you want to set your display settings to either simplified or traditional and then deselect "show pinyin" and "show translation".http://popupchinese.com/account/customizeNow all you need to do is download everything in bulk. If you use your iTunes feed (delete any existing files and hit the "get all" button) any files you download will have the transcripts formatted according to your latest settings. If you need to change your settings just rinse and repeat.Incidentally, the transcripts are included as PDF files, but also as id3-tags embedded in the mp3 files themselves. So if you are using an iPhone or iPad it might be enough to simply download the mp3 files and not worry too much about the transcripts.Hope this helps. Let me know if you run into any problems.
Yeah, actually, can you tell me where the personalized iTunes feed is? I found it by accident one day & didn't actually set it up at the time...
Sure thing -- the link you need is in the first paragraph on this page:http://popupchinese.com/account/setup_itunesOnly tricky thing is that Internet Explorer refuses to cooperate with iTunes, which means if you're an IE user you'll need to install the feed manually. This is done by clicking on the Advanced file menu and selecting "Subscribe to Podcast" and then providing the URL listed on that page.
Sheesh. Maybe I should explore iTunes just for PopupChinese documentation. I despise the software cause it is such a hog on anything that isn't a Mac, but it looks like it might ease my downloading hassle!
This works fine without iTunes.Open the link David suggested you (i.e. your personalized feed) in Internet Explorer.Click on the star symbol (top right in IE 9 and 10) - that will open a pane with three tabs - history, feeds and favorites. Select the feeds tab and click "Subscribe to this feed...". In a little while you will see in the top right corner a small square frame that says "Displaying 200/200" and some other stuff. Under that frame there are two links; one of them says "View feed properties...". Click there and in the window that comes up, you will need to select "automatically download attached files" and "keep maximum items". Once you've done downloading, you can click "view files" on the same window.
