Why do I have to log in to popupchinese.com every day? Just keep me signed in... please...

@pefferie,

Thanks for complaining about this. I think we've just increased the session timeout value to a week, although it may only apply to new logins. We don't want to be forcing people to jump through hoops all the time.

@trevelyan,

thanks for the quick turnaround. I am curious why cookies have to expire at all? They don't hold up any server resources, do they? I mean, if someone logs on to popup chinese once a week, they will not even notice the great improvement you've just made. Besides, we are spoiled by facebook, hotmail and google's (among others) never-expiring cookies and inevitably come to expect those...

We have to expire them at some point since we do authentication using cookies. Let's give this a shot for a while and see how it goes, and then bump it up from there. Maybe the next version of the site can have cookie management so that people can choose never to have their accounts expire, etc.
