I'm new here and very intrigued, after 18 months of self-study Putonghua has gotten me nowhere. I'd love to know if there are any plans to develop podcasts and mobile apps outside the Apple box? I'd love to get Writing Pad for Android, and be able to download podcasts without iTunes. I know the web interface will work on a phone, but non-battery-draining offline study is much better. Cheers.

@WangTong10,

It's possible to use all of our features outside the Apple box. You can always download the mp3 files through the browser, and if you don't want to do that there are third-party applications like DoubleTwist (http://doubletwist.com/) that can replace iTunes on an Android device.

The iPhone apps are all experimental right now, so getting versions out for Android isn't a huge priority. Part of the problem is that we don't have the resources to do more. I hope this will get solved over time, but if you want to help, the easiest way short of subscribing yourself is to help convince Google we're worth showing in search results, ideally by writing a review or linking to us in some capacity.
