We've just migrated the Adsotrans annotation engine over to Popup Chinese. This annotation/translation engine provides free Chinese text annotation, machine translation, word-level hanzi-pinyin conversion and more. I'm quite fond of our new button that detects and switches between character scripts as well. You can find Adso under the "tools" section, or at:

There are a couple of consequences of this shift for the way Adso works. The first and most important is that dictionary editing is no longer "real-time". It is still possible to edit the database, but all changes will be reviewed before inclusion in the software. We've automated teh review process and will be regenerating the Adso software every week so it should not take long between your contributing content and seeing it work its way into the software. You can also review the status of any dictionary edits you have made.

To edit or add missing entries head to our free Chinese-English Dictionary and edit away. If you are using our Firefox plugin and wish to collect/contribute content that way, simply pass along your related vocabulary lists (export and email) and we'll process them for inclusion in the project manually.

On a final note, if you are interested in being an approved dictionary editor, please contact us. Approved dictionary editors get immediate "write" access on the database without the need for an intermediate review stage. We still track edits and are happy to give "write" access to those with intermediate Chinese or above, but want to make sure you understand our conventions for marking up POS data.
