Hi guys,

What's the word for “halal” in Mandarin?

I was in a Muslim restaurant today, and while waiting for my dish I brought some 烧烤 from another Muslim restaurant nearby. The owner, not knowing whether it was halal or not, was unsure as to whether or not to be OK with me bringing the food into his restaurant.

How can I explain to him that it's halal? Is there a word for that in Mandarin?

Thanks!

Thanks uhuhuisadi. I've only seen the term 清真 used in relation to Islam, although it would make perfect sense for it to be grounded in what you point out. Cheers!
