I just ran into these online and almost blew a gasket. This is apparently the real deal - Avril Lavigne has started doing covers of her own songs... in mandarin. Youtube isn't letting me embed the video, so you'll have to click to watch:
Hot (Chinese version)
If that isn't enough... they made a second one. The fun in the second video starts when the music kicks in:
Girlfriend (Chinese version)
I love the way they've edited some of the longer sentences together, and just translated the choruses. You guys should do this for KTV Wednesday. Seriously.
Yeah Orbital, I first heard those songs months ago. I love Avril's songs like a lot of young people in China, but honestly, I can't understand what she's singing esp. in the first song.
How on earth did you find this orbital? In addition to being hilarious, it's a brilliant concept. The comments from the site are priceless too, especially this, which seems to be an actual quote from Avril:
引用:Im making yet this Mandarin Chinese version for the 3rd single "HOT",you know it's REALLY difficult for me about the pronunciation.I wonder if you guys can figure out what I am singin' and haha how about my chinese =] www.6park.comThis Mandarin version to give specially thx for your support to me,I will keep rocking with my music & more surprise appearances.NEE ZHEN SHI DO WOO HOOW!--endmuhahaha,中国市场的力量。Have to respect a working musician. For someone with no mandarin training I think she actually does pretty well. Can't make any sense of the bit that goes from 0:54-0:58 ("I've got to get to class?"), but the rest is intelligible.
@trevelyan - some Chinese friends showed it to me last night. We were roving around the MTV section of Youku or Tudou or one of the other million-odd Chinese video sharing sites.Had a really tough China day today. Off to a Halloween party in a bit though, so hopefully things will turn around. Happy Halloween to all you guys, btw.
I can't make heads or tails of 0:54-0:58 either. For what it's worth, I think it's just a direct translation of whatever the English lyrics are though.
