Is 会 pronounced 会儿 huǐr in the North?

I know that 会 huì is standard, but sometimes I hear third tone (with 儿化音) in words like 一会、一时半会、等会 and so on.

It's standard to erhuaize 会 when it refers to time (leaving off the erhaization sounds strange in those situations, and you should erhuaize when reading even if there is no 儿 in the text).

The third tone thing is a colloquial change that everyone up north does - I'm not sure if it holds in other parts of China, but you should definitely do it. I think we may have covered this in one of the shows.

一会儿: both third and fourth tone are okay

一时半会儿: third tone

等会儿: fifth tone (light tone)
