I was recently called a 典型的隔锅香 while eating with a friend. Does this mean I want to eat other people's food / always think other people's food is better than mine?
@murrayjames,Hahaha, this is an interesting expression. Yes, it means you always think other people's food is better than yours although you have good food yourself too. I found out that this is Yun Nan or Sichuan dialect. In the north, we say 这山望着那山高 or 吃着碗里的看着锅里的.--Echoecho@popupchinese.com
That's a new one by me! Think of it as a Sichuan-specific version of "the grass is always greener" -- "the hotpot is always tastier."
