I often get 尽量 jǐnliàng and jìnliàng confused. Is there a trick to telling them apart?

In this sentence: 在管弦乐队中，每件乐器在音色和音量的控制上都尽量溶入整体的音响之中……

Is it jǐnliàng? "In an orchestra, every instrument, by controlling its timbre and volume, tries as much as possible（尽量）to dissolve into the sound [of the orchestra as a whole]"

Jǐnliàng is the correct pronunciation. However, people usually say jìnliàng in the real life. If you want to take HSK, use the third tone one.
