Hi Echo, I just listened to the latest Elementary podcast about the Chinese tutor.

Is the 来 required to turn the phrase into a suggestion, or does using 一下 after the verb enough in itself ?

In other words, would 来聊一下 be the same as 我们聊一下 as far as the meaning and tone is concerned?

Also, is this equivalent to adding 吧 at the end? As in 我们聊一下吧 ?

Thanks for the excellent podcasts as always. (I thought of writing this by email but figured if I used the forum others could benefit from the answer.)

@insane.dreamers,

来 is used to indicate what one has come for here. 一下 is used to soften the intonation. 吧 is used to make a suggestion.
