This is a neat feature, but how does it work when creating entries of complex phrases? For example, in the 石家庄万人签名重塑食品安全形象, the word 重塑 is said to be pronounced zhongsu instead of chongsu. Is the pinyin given for each individual character or for actual words and phrases?
Hi Erik,The dictionary distributed in the plugin is regenerated more or less monthly from our online version. It is open for collaborative editing, although edits by "unauthorized users" are flagged for review before they get added to the system. If you'd like the ability to edit dictionary content in real-time let us know:http://popupchinese.com/dictionaryWe automatically generate the pinyin for entries that are missing them when we update the plugin, so in some cases where there are 多音字 an entry might be wrong. I'll make the correction for 重塑 myself. Thank you for pointing out the error. The downloadable plugin will be updated shortly.The annotator we use tries to create complex phrases through its understanding of Chinese grammar, so it will attempt to pick the "best" sense for a word based on its understanding of the other words and phrases in the surrounding sentence. There are obviously going to be errors here, which is why our lesson texts are all manually edited.Best,--david
