So Popup chinese was my primary learning material for a few months while I worked through all of the elementary and intermediate lessons. Thus, a lot of my vocabulary comes from Popup. I didn't really notice this, but since a lot of the popup dialogues cover rougher characters from the underworld, my Chinese vocabulary tends to be a bit rough haha. I was joking with a chinese coworker that I could "take care of" her cat and she said (in so many words), wow! you sound like a 流氓 when you speak Chinese! Our conversations in Chinese are always informal, and I am usually aware of when I am using "rough" language, but still found the whole thing quite funny. Anyone else have this experience? Also, I wanted to commend Popup because the dialogues are so unique, the first time I really began using spoken Chinese, I was always reciting dialogues to my chinese friends because I thought they were so funny. So kudos.
