Ok, ok, my character knowledge leaves a lot to be desired. Studying characters is actually on the back burner for now. But I had been thinking that 白酒 was white wine until someone corrected me and mentioned Vodka as an example of 白酒.
Red wine...thought that was 红葡萄酒 since white wine is 百葡萄酒. 百酒 is strong liquor such as Vodka.
Alveoli mentions being there for a month. That's really too short to enroll in say a BLCU course. I'm thinking of being there for 3-4 weeks this year too... been mulling about maybe hiring a private tutor to have daily chats with. The other time will probably be spent dao4chu4 zou3zou3, hopefully not getting lost. The idea is to force me to use Mandarin in everyday situations. I also might take a train to Shanghai and spend some time there. It's sort of a variation on what Benny the Irishpolyglot is doing in Taipei right now.
Buff - I understood that to mean "cut" as in having extremely good musculature.
Like Anthony, I'm interested in an index though of a different type. I'm thinking it would be nice to see a list of grammar points and their associated lessons.
Agreed. The current "my progress" tool works a bit like the "I'm feeling lucky" button on Google, which is also fun but isn't how most people search, especially if they have a few ideas in mind beforehand.
