In today's lesson we cover all the vocab you'll ever need to know to engage in casual chit-chat while stripping down for work or fun. We also cover a core grammar point: how to ask questions with verb reduplication when our verb takes an object. Very useful for asking someone if they are - in fact - going to be taking off their pants.

And get your mind out of the gutter! There are a number of perfectly legitimate reasons you'll need to know this stuff, not the least of which involves visiting the beach, performing routine weapons checks, or showing off your spectacular tan-line at the World Economic Forum.

@xiaoxin,

我记得上次我问David, 他说是打胳膊。我猜可能像我们接种疫苗那样,不知道对不对。

yeah... i've always been an arm over thigh sort of guy. Only time I've ever had a shot in the thigh was down in Shanghai after having a bad allergic reaction to some sort of penicillin.

Perhaps there are latent power issues in this dialogue we're not aware of from the outside. :)

The nurse speaks a little too fast for me. I like the clear explaination of the grammar.

These podcasts are clever and helpful. For someone who has not been to China it's worth a lot to have elementary sentences done at speed, followed by an insightful explanation. It hardly helps to learn elementary vocab if one cannot recognize it in a naturally delivered sentence. Nicely done!

After going through all the beginning lessons, I am struggling mightily with the increased speed of the speech in these. I like the realism of the actors' dialogs but would like to see Echo's going through the dialog to be longer and slower. Perhaps she could pronounce each phrase slowly and then at natural speed so as to facilitate both comprehension and understanding of how so much of the pronunciation is elided. I know this happens in all natural speech but I can't even hope to keep up with the brevity of the dialog review.

@lauracdaniell,

The earliest Elementary lessons are notably easier than the later ones, so you may want to jump back to them. Elementary IS a big step up in the sense that its 25% of the way there. Keep at it and you will find it gets easier. Dialogue-only recording files should help.
