If anyone is bumming around Beijing this afternoon and looking for something to do, a friend of Popup Chinese (Jim) is holding a grand opening for his Ocean Grounds coffee shop in U-Town. This is a HUGE store that imports and roasts its own coffee. It's on the third floor, north side of the complex above the new atrium.

We were introduced to the place by fellow listener Brad (thanks Brad!) and have basically stopped drinking coffee prepared anywhere else.

Anyway -- while the place has been open for a month or two, Jim is having a formal grand opening this afternoon from 2-4 and there will be lots of free food and drinks (read: an assortment of very good coffee). If anyone is in town without something to do, or just wants to taste coffee the way it was meant to be drunk, feel free to drop on by. Echo is home with her folks, but I'll be milling around and will be happy to introduce anyone who drops by to Jim.

@trevelyan,

Too bad I have to miss the opening. David, please drink a big cup of mocha for me. I love their 摩卡咖啡 :)

妈的!I've been doing nothing all day & just read this, about an hour too late。 Don't supose it's anywhere near Wudaokou?

@crusty_138,

Sadly, it's not even close to Wudaokou (opposite end of town). I only found out about it at the last minute myself, otherwise I would have posted earlier. It was a good time though -- I'll let you know the next time Jim runs an event.
