So in Chinese class, when we all had to pick Chinese names, I wanted to use the name that was officially listed as mine on all of my adoption forms. I know that the first character is "lotus," but the second character I think is something to do with clear weather? So I'm not sure if it only sounds weird to me because something's being lost in translation.

My Chinese GF says that it's not a common name and you could understand it as "lotus under a clear sky" and she thinks it's a nice name.

I would recommend you to consider for a different one as this is indeed NOT a common one. Yes the first character means "Lotus" and the second one "Sunny day" - all great in meanings, but not natural when combined as a person's name. Not only it's not natural, but also difficult for your Chinese friend to remember.

What is your English name? I may help you think out a few better versions for you to consider - for free of course. I am running a Chinese mandarin linguists team.
